ISO9001 – What it Means for Our Customers

Is ISO9001 important? The following statements are important only because our certificate carries the coveted UKAS logo in addition to that of ISOQAR who issue the certificate. This makes the process meaningful as it ensures rigorous accreditation.
Each of the last 16 years we have been obliged to pay for an external audit to assess our systems and ensure that we meet the regularly changing requirements of this international standard. Every year we find that we’ve made useful changes but that we haven’t always logged them onto our procedures and work instructions which results in some frenzied activity prior to the external audit! Without fail our assessor identifies something that we could improve. The net result is that we come out of it with renewed confidence that we are operating at maximum efficiency. In other words that our systems really are World Class.
We’ve questioned its value many times but it’s such a useful discipline the investment in time, effort and money is easily justified.
